The Essential Building Blocks of a Strategic Website

September 4, 2019

When creating your new website, it may feel like you have to re-invent the wheel to stand out in your industry. The good news is you can have a pretty traditional looking website (or go a little crazy sometimes) but still make an impact on the visitor. When we work with clients, there are 3 main building blocks we make sure we have so let’s go over them now!

1. High-quality imagery

The first building block that is a must is amazing photography. Your photos can make or break your website. Photographers will have their own work to use which is a huge advantage! But if you’re not a photographer, having a brand shoot (whether on your own or hiring a team to help you) will provide you with on brand photos that will enhance the look of your site.

2. Strategic copy

The message you share on your website is so important because the visitor’s ability to understand why you’re so valuable is the difference between them booking you or not. You want your copy to be focused on how you can help your audience overcome a problem, the one you are the perfect choice to solve. Even on your about page, you want to focus on your skills and what traits of your personality and who you are will build a connection with that person reading.

3. Solid brand

The last essential building block is a brand designed by a designer/strategist. You’ll know you have a brand that is distinct to your voice, goals, and ideal audience and it’s about so much more than just the visuals. Coming up with your copy and imagery is made much easier when you have a focused brand that can guide your decisions when choosing or creating photos. Your copy messaging will be stronger. It’s the perfect starting point for every decision in your business, and that includes your website.
